LiderA System
Develop
If you wish to improve performance, following the assessment you should seek to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate their environmental, social and economic impact, select the appropriate opportunities, develop them and demonstrate their effectiveness. If you wish to obtain certification, you must provide evidence of the various aspects considered. LiderA certifies overall performance in the pursuit of sustainability. It can also certify the pursuit of good performance in specific programme areas, such as energy, water, materials and waste, risks, resilience and life-cycle costs, amongst others.
Verify and certify
Certification under the LiderA scheme is voluntary. The LiderA process involves assessing the performance level for the case under consideration (using the model provided for this purpose), and classifying the degree of commitment to sustainability (from G to A++) based on the information and solutions defined or already in place.
The IPA offers environmental consultancy, particularly for the LiderA system, and guidance on how to use this approach to achieve development within other systems, such as LEED and BREEAM.
In Portugal, the LiderA System (www.lidera.info and www.lidera4all.com) is particularly noteworthy; it was created to support the assessment, evaluation and certification of the sustainability of buildings and the built environment, thereby promoting the development of sustainable communities.
LiderA Version 4 is the current version, released in 2019, which covers 6 categories, 20 areas and 40 programme criteria. The approach, specifically the requirements and main objectives, is set out in the relevant standard. Furthermore, value creation has increasingly demonstrated its benefits and strong potential, leading to a growing demand.
